Last night we read pages 354-374 in a Treatise on white magic.

The main focus was on the use of the mind in a constructive way to be a vehicle for the expression of the universal mind. What hinders intuition and of being able to access inner guidance is the over emphasis on the lower emotional nature. This creates a veil through which the insight cannot penetrate. Constant focus on the higher mind however like the sun on mist will eventually burn away the veils of illusion and this is mentioned on page 358. The emotional or astral nature is symbolized as water and the mental nature fire. This is why the use of the mind in positive constructive ways is required to burn away the illusions of the lower personality self. If emotion is just focused on it becomes all consuming which is often why despondency sets in. All of us have the ability to use the mind and to align with the universal mind to observe a situation from a higher perspective. This creates the perfect ground, which is the lower concrete mind for the seeds of higher ideas to be planted in.
